Generative storytelling, Performing arts

The Shakesperare Interactive Museum (SIM) offers an amazing multimedia 4.0 journey inspired by the story of Romeo and Juliet. Visitors are guided to discover a Shakespearean soul hidden in the heart and corners of the city of Verona.

Why we did it?

To craft a sensory immersive and emotionally engaging experience. Where live theatrical performances are mixed with interactive projections, generative art, and special sound effects to create a unique and exciting show.

How we did it?

An immersive experience was designed based on computer vision algorithms that detect the body shapes to create a generative particle system. The main inspiration came from Shakespeare’s tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. For each character of the play, a specific behavour was created to make a distinct and artistic representation of the soul.

Generative storytelling

The characters are represented by wavy particle systems created by a generative algorithm. The seven characters chosen are Romeo, Juliet, Capulet, Mercutio, Tybal, Benvolio and the Nurse.

3D Motion Design

The show include a parametric modeling about the seven 3d models. We designed an immersive environment where people can dive into an emotional journey.

Scenary Design

The show is composed by the performance of an actress and an immersive projection. The latter one displays the seven historical locations of Verona where Shakespeare sets the story of Romeo and Juliet.

Human-computer interaction

Users interact with the projection moving its body creating a generative visual environment. An original soundscape was create in order to diving in armony into the show.

The theater host three moment in a differente spaces :

  • Main : a video projection where people can interact
  • 2 Monitors LED where you can enbody with the Romeo and Juliet souls

Visual communication and web experience

We had in charge of the logo design SIM (Shakespeare interactive museum). For the occasion we started from a simple shape as the circle trying to represent with the M letter, the medieval architectural castle symbol called “Merlo”. We also create a relationship by using a 1:4 ratio of the color.

Shakespeare’s novel has a lot of anecdotes, for that reason our choice was to develop a web experience where users can discover which shakesperean profile you belong to. After discovering your character you can can share in your social newtork wall the unique custom card create for you.
